Too good to not blog: Superhero’s ARE real!

So it’ not entirely related to publishing or publicity but hell, I love it anyways.

MSNBC news did an online article on the Real Life Super Hero Project. Basically, everyday Joe Shmoe’s have donned costumes and taken to the streets. Not really fighting crime in all cases but inspiring people to do good and in doing so these very real people are undertaking something very fantastic.

As described on their About page:

“Do you recognize a superhero when you look one in the face? Do you think such men and women truly exist? If not, then look. And think again.

Indeed, there is a real subculture of genuine heroes, that bridge the gap between the fantastic and the practical. Anonymous and selfless, they choose every day, to make a difference in the world around them. Whether it be feeding the hungry, comforting the sick, or cleaning up their neighborhoods, they save real lives in very real ways. These are not “kooks in costumes,” as they may seem at first glance. They are, simply put, a radical response… to a radical problem. “

Sure there’s all the conflict when thinking about police being involved, the dangers they’re putting themselves in (the ones who do try to stop small crime) but the heart and intentions are what we need.

Every now and then we could all use a real superhero, and these people are taking up the mantle.

So I tip my hat to the Real Life Super Hero Project, and ask all readers here to check them out to learn a little more about these good people. Offer your support where you can!

Cheers.
